![]() The Polar Bear This animal is popular all around the world, for its unique soft cuddly appearance. However it is also feared if sighted in its natural habitat. Polar Bears habitat the north of Canada, but also other countries. Known as the polar bear nations are the USA (Alaska), Denmark, Norway, Russia and of course Canada. The city of Churchill in Canada is a small town, but a destination for avid tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of a polar bear. On some occasions, polar bears have been known to enter the city of Churchill in the search for food. |
The male polar bear weighs in at around 400 kilograms on average, but can reach as much as 750 kgs. They stand about 2 and a half to 3 metres tall. The females are much smaller compared to the males, weighing in at around 250 kilograms but can reach about 340 kilograms. They stand about 2 metres to 2.5 metres tall. They have a white or sometimes yellowish thick coat of hair, which of course helps them to keep warm. Their coat is also very oily, which means the water will run off their coat with a quick shake. They hunt seals as their main source of food. Throughout the winter, it is much harder for them to hunt seals due to frozen waters.
